Training for Girl Students from TSWREIS Colleges

CHSS trains 100 girl students from Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutional Society (TSWREIS) Colleges through its Winter Research Internship Programme

Center for Human Security Studies (CHSS) hosted a winter research internship program to bring awareness and knowledge on internal security & external affairs of India. 100 college girls of SC/ST/OBC/General run by Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutional Society (TSWREIS) led by Dr. RS Praveen Kumar IPS were selected out of 5600 girls. The programme was conducted in two separate batches. Out of 100 students selected for this internship, the 1st batch were in Dr. MCR HRDIT, Hyderabad from 30th December, 2019 to 5th February, 2020 while the second batch were from 1st February, 2020 to 1st March 2020

The first week consisted of writing a book review by each Intern on a specific book assigned to them. The interns thus completed and submitted the book review assigned to them.

In the following weeks, there were a series of lectures given by prominent guests and distinguished personalities from civil services and academics. This internship also included extra-curricular activities aimed at improving their English speaking and writing skills, inter-personal skills and daily morning physical exercises.

Each Intern was assigned to write a research paper on India’s relationship with the country of their choice. The interns completed their assignment by the end of the programme.

At the end of the Internship, the students were presented their certificates in presence of Dr. Sanjeev Chopra, Director at LBSNAA, Mussoorie, Sri B.P Acharya - IAS and Sri Harpreet Singh - IAS.

These officers / visiting faculty have contributed and improved the knowledge and awareness of the girl interns about the Internal and External challenges that India faces. They also encouraged and motivated the girl interns by using their own personal stories. They also advised the interns for the preparations of civil service exams. This program helped the girl interns who were only around 18 years of age and who were currently doing their undergraduate studies in B.A, B.Com and B.Sc from TSWREIS. As a result of this program the girl interns improved their soft skills, time management, English communication skills, and knowledge of Indian Internal Security challenges, External Affairs of India and International Affairs. The girl interns also did extra-curricular activities which included early morning physical exercises, sports, painting, singing and dance. A select number of girl interns were given the opportunity to visit local media outlets and were interviewed by the local media about their views on current affairs.
